Guidance & Resources

Practical steps and support for the difficult days.

Immediate Procedures

First Steps After a Passing

When a death occurs at home, call your local emergency number or the attending physician. If unexpected, police may need to be notified. If in a hospital or hospice, the staff will guide you through the immediate legalities.

Legal & Documentation

You will need multiple copies of the death certificate for closing accounts, insurance, and legal transfers. It is recommended to request at least 10 certified copies from the funeral home or local registrar.

Funeral & Memorial Arrangements

There is no rush. Take time to breathe. You can choose a funeral home that aligns with your values. Questions to ask: Do they offer basic cremation? Can you hold a service elsewhere? Trust your intuition.
